Laser Operator

SBI Manufacturing is seeking a skilled Metal Manufacturing Laser Operator to join our team and contribute to the efficient and precise production of metal components using laser cutting technology. Responsibilities and Duties:

Set up and operate laser cutting and engraving to fabricate metal components according to specifications and production requirements.

Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, or CAD models to understand the required metal fabrication processes and dimensions.

Prepare materials for laser operations by loading and positioning metal sheets or workpieces onto the machine, ensuring proper alignment and clamping.

Conduct test runs to verify the accuracy and quality of laser cutting and make necessary adjustments to ensure precision and consistency.

inspection using calipers/gauges/micrometers and tape measurers.

Monitor machine operation and perform regular inspections to ensure proper laser focus, beam alignment, and cutting quality throughout the production process.

Collaborate with engineering or design teams to troubleshoot and optimize laser machining process for improved efficiency, and productivity.

Maintain Inventory and material Storage for Laser department.

Ensure all material and inventory is stored and labeled properly.

Maintain and perform routine maintenance tasks on the laser machine, including cleaning, lens replacement, and calibration, to ensure optimal machine performance.

Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), to maintain a safe working environment.

Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to supervisor.

Clean parts such as micro-joints/micro-welds along with any defects.

Record production data, including material usage, machine settings, and quality inspections, accurately and maintain documentation for quality control and traceability purposes.

Qualifications and Skills:

Proven experience as a laser operator in metal manufacturing or related industry.

Familiarity with metal fabrication processes, laser cutting, engraving techniques, and the properties of various metals.

Proficiency in measuring tools and instruments (calipers, micrometers, etc.).

Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality output.

Great interpersonal and communication skills

Physical dexterity and ability to lift heavy metal materials when required.

Knowledge of safety protocols and practices in a manufacturing setting.

Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to machine maintenance.

Working Conditions:

Working conditions for a Metal Manufacturing Laser Operator include frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can also be loud.
