SBI is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced manufacturing quality assurance professional to join our team. As a Quality Assurance specialist, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality control systems and processes to ensure the production of high-quality products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to establish quality standards, conduct inspections and audits, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and customer satisfaction. We are a small family-owned business which has steadily grown in size for over 17 years located on the south side of Sioux Falls, SD. Sioux Falls has been consistently one of the top 10 cities in the U.S. for livability.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Quality Control Systems and Processes:
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems and processes that align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Define and document quality assurance procedures, including inspection methods, testing protocols, and acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish quality standards for incoming materials, in-process manufacturing, and finished products.
Inspection and Testing:
- Conduct inspections and quality checks on raw materials, components, and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Use various inspection and testing methods, tools, and equipment to verify product dimensions, functionality, and performance.
- Document inspection results, maintain inspection records, and report any non-conformities or deviations to the appropriate team members.
Non-Conformance Management:
- Investigate and analyze non-conformances, defects, and customer complaints to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Collaborate with production teams and suppliers to address non-conformances and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
- Monitor and trace the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions and ensure timely closure of non-conformance records.
Quality Audits and Compliance:
- Conduct internal audits to assess compliance with quality management systems, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare audit reports, identify areas for improvement, and recommend corrective actions to address non-compliance issues.
- Participate in external audits by customers or regulatory agencies and provide necessary documentation and support.
Continuous improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, waste reduction and cost savings in manufacturing operations.
- Collect and analyze quality data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives, such as lean manufacturing to enhance product quality and efficiency.
Supplier Quality Management:
- Collaborate with the procurement team to establish quality requirements for suppliers and conduct supplier evaluations and audits.
- Ensure that incoming materials and components meet specified quality standards and work with suppliers to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
Customer Satisfaction
- Monitor and analyze customer feedback, complaints, and return rates to identify areas for improvement and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with customer support and sales teams to address customer concerns and implement corrective actions.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality management, or a related field.
Proven experience 4 years in manufacturing quality assurance or quality control roles.
Strong Knowledge of quality management systems, quality control tools, statistical process control, and measurement techniques.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards applicable the industry such as ISO.
Experience conducting inspections, audits, and quality assessments.
Proficiency in data analysis and statistical software tools.
Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills.
Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Working Conditions:
Will work in a climate-controlled enclosed office with Moderate Noise levels but from time to time will also be required to work in the shop which is subject to extremes in temperature, and conditions that include moving around machinery and vehicles. Workdays will be from Monday through Friday 8 – 9 hours a day.
